Ruukki and SSAB were partners in the Builder for the Future, a programme for young architects

Jun 12, 2018

At the end of May, the BUILDER FOR THE FUTURE programme wrapped up with a festive gala. During 12 months two programmes– one for young architects and one for young civil engineers - were run simultaneously. Both programmes included competitions, the winners of which were announced at the final event. Ruukki and SSAB were among the partner companies supporting the programme. Young participants could choose GreenCoat, Cor-Ten and Ruukki energy panels for their projects.

The Builder for the Future programme included numerous lectures, workshops, panel discussions and consultations. Each time, at each Young Architect Day, both Ruukki and SSAB were present to share their know-how, experience and advice on how our solutions can contribute to better designs and better and more sustainable construction. Leading companies represented in the programme ensured young people direct access to the current construction component portfolio available in the market. Innovative solutions from Ruukki and SSAB made their mark due to their sustainable values, aesthetic looks and versatile use.

More than 10,000 students and graduates are currently involved in the programme. Each time a few hundred of them, from all over Poland, participated in the events organised for young architects. Also the final event was combined with another Young Architect Day and everyone could visit SSAB and Ruukki’s stand.

Participants had almost a year to prepare their competition projects. The aim was to confront future architects with occupational realities, to support their education and professional development and to promote young talents. They had a whole selection of building products and solutions to inspire them to make the most innovative, attractive and feasible projects. For facades, they could naturally choose GreenCoat colour-coated products, well-known Cor-Ten steels and Ruukki energy panels. Detailed information was available for the whole year on and at the dedicated competition websites. Students could also contact our specialists at any time.

“I can say that the competition projects were of a very high standard. At the second stage, winners justified their works very well and this decided their final success. I was really amazed at how easily young people used the materials and details available on our website. Youth and new technologies go hand in hand!” says Adam Myśliwiec, Business Manager, Ruukki Polska, who represented Ruukki in all the Builder for the Future meetings.

Ruukki and SSAB strongly focus on cooperation and education aimed at future architects; either directly at universities or through special industry programmes. Students can thus gain practical knowledge about the latest steels and steel construction products, they can find out about their properties and check how our solutions can soon help them in their daily work.
